Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation [vision -KJV], people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.
The intention of this proverb is that people need guidance, direction, from God. Without it people can become careless and “perish” [go wrong). A happy people, a happy family, a happy church is found where God’s guidance is sought and His wisdom followed. This was not intended to be the burden of one leader but a shared responsibility. God is always willing to guide (reveal His purposes for us) and to give wisdom to those who ask. Sometimes He reveals His purposes in surprising places!
Luke 10:21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
God’s guidance shows us how to move on – not back!
