Sharing Jesus with the Fenlands in Tydd Gote & Thorney

Thorney Fenlands

Thorney Fellowship

town

Thorney began as a Saxon settlement in about 500 AD.A community of Walloon Protestant refugees, originally from areas of Flanders that are now northern France, was settled here in the 17th century with their own church and minister, employing the ruins of the abbey for services in their own language. The Walloons had expertise in fenland drainage and assisted in the work of draining in the area. Much of the village was built at the command of the Dukes of Bedford, who wished to have a healthy place in which their estate workers could live. In the mid-19th century many buildings were added to the designs of the architect S.S. Teuton, himself a descendant of Huguenots.

Heb 10:25  "We must not quit meeting together, as some are doing. No, we need to keep on encouraging each other. This becomes more and more important as you see the Day getting closer".

There is a sister community that meets from 10.30am on Sundays at the Duke of Bedford Primary School, in Thorney.
We have other meetings midweek in our homes.
You are very welcome to drop in and join us there, where you will recieve a warm welcome!
