Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
This verse brings to mind others:
1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Song of Solomon 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away.
Often we find Bible statements that seem to set extreme opposites. Hate seems such a nasty word! Who would ever hate someone? Especially us Christians. However, if we look at everything that does not come from love as a kind of hate, we get a better idea of what the verse means and a lot of what Jesus taught about love and hate. Jesus was hated for no reason (Psalm 69:4). This refers to His life and ministry not only to the Cross.
May Father God help us to walk in love and avoid those choices and attitudes that would give an impression of hate, rejection, preferring something in place of someone!
