Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Almost the whole chapter is devoted to describing an amazing woman! Some of the content does not go down well in modern times, I think? Too much about serving and working hard? The woman described is her own “boss”, she runs a business. Many people in this world need to work hard so that they survive! The key thought here is of a life that has its foundation in love and reverence for God. This woman is noble, lovely, praiseworthy. Such things are priceless and carry more weight than a pretty face! Women like this change the world! Perhaps this chapter has encouragement for the women who do not feel they are a match for the superficial super siren models that assault our eyes daily?
The words challenge me. How much do I value a godly, loving wife? This Book of Wisdom guides both men and women and children in living so that God is glorified and we are blessed. Children obey, men should not be lazy or conniving, women should not nag! Doesn’t really sum it up! There are warnings about drunkenness, anger, foolish talk, false friendships and resisting temptation.

The repeated advice is:
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
