Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.
Titian: painting of “Lady Wisdom”
This verse is taken from the chapter that describes Wisdom as a noble woman calling out in the market place for people to buy from her. The chapter holds many echoes of what Jesus taught.
Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Isaiah takes up the theme and points out that wisdom is freely given [Is.55:1,2]. And James writes:
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Having wisdom, rather than knowledge of facts, having understanding rather than merely knowing about things, is something to be desired. So, all it takes is a humble heart to seek God, repent of unbelief and sin, and ask! As the meerkat says,”Simples”.
Getting wisdom, gets the Father’s love and fellowship. Getting wisdom gets so much to help in daily decisions and challenges.
