Soft and Gentle Words: Proverbs 15:1

Proverbs 15:1  A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. [KJV]

Over this Easter/Passover time there has been some news about David Suchet.  There was a report about how he came to faith in Jesus through reading Romans Chapter 8.  There was information about his public reading of John’s Gospel in the Jerusalem Chamber in Westminster Abbey.  David Suchet read from the King James Version.  He reminded his hearers that it was in the Jerusalem Chamber that the King James Version was read out loud as it was translated in order to hear the words.  They wanted them to be heard well, sweetly, as the very words of God (which is what they are).

Let us find God’s help to speak as Jesus did:

John 7:46  The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. [KJV]

Luke 4:22  And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. [KJV]
