Proverbs 2:4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure
The second chapter of the Book of Proverbs focuses on valuing understanding. Clearly, we must do more than store up knowledge of facts. Wisdom and understanding equip us for living the good life. The chapter lists benefits of living wisely against the risks of ignoring good advice. We assume that human nature is keen to find silver or gold or other treasure? It is a good picture. The prospector sieving gravel to find gold nuggets. Jesus spoke about the Kingdom of God in this way:
Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Is that you? Is that me? Do I truly value wisdom? Do I truly value Jesus and seek to know Him better? How can I do that? Through prayer and reading God’s Word. Through fellowship and discussion with others. Through asking questions. Above all, seeing that these things are worth investing time and energy.
