Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.
[this proverb appears twice – see ch.16:25]
Our Lord Jesus picks up this proverb and amplifies it:
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. (14) But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
The big point in this, the large signpost directing us, is: Don’t trust yourself! Our minds do not join up spiritually unless we are born again through faith in Jesus. Our intelligence, our human view, our reasoning, our skill or education, will never point to the narrow way!
Why narrow? It means hard to see, difficult to find!
Jesus said:
John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
