Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
God promises the faithful that He will write His Laws in their hearts.
Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
In this time of Lockdown have we kept our guard up? That is a boxing term. My father was a boxer in the Army and did quite well. Perhaps he was a little disappointed that I was not keen on fighting? He did try to teach me and would often say, “Keep your guard up”. He referred to the need to cover my chin and heart area with my right arm and fist. Or was it my left?
Paul spoke about this kind of thing for Timothy’s spiritual well-being.
1 Timothy 4:16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
Jesus spoke about being on guard, guarded, watchful – especially about our mouth and heart.
Matthew 15:11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
Matthew 15:17-18 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? (18) But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.
And, one more thing, it is really important that you are standing properly!
